• csdf Dear Sir/Ma’am, Warm Greeting from CSDF Chittagong, Bangladesh! Gender & Development Resource Center (GDRC) at Chittagong, Bangladesh needs your Patronage. Chittagong Social Development Forum (CSDF) a citizens and local NGO alliance working for overcoming suffering of women and children in discriminations, violation and promote women & children rights, gender equity, women’s political empowerment has been functioning from December 1996. CSDF has been trying to created a discrimination free & gender environmental friendly sustainable development society through developing capacity and skills of the local NGOs, civil society organizations (CSO), community service delivery institutions (CSDI) local elected bodies (LEB) for establishing equal rights of the women and men in the community and family decision making process by using local resources, promotion of gender mainstreaming at organization and community level and enhancing women participation in local government bodies, create equal opportunities, protect child rights(CRC) and environmental conservation movement etc. It’s current focused i) birth registration, ii) marriage registration, iii) enhance participation of women in local decision making process and iv) reduction of violence againsts women v) early marriage vi) Polygamy. We have set up Gender and Development Resource Center (GDRC) at Chittagong Metropolitan City with necessary resource materials, secretarial staff and other facilities. The main aim of the GDRC is creating access to the information on gender, women rights, girl child rights, environment and women in local elected bodies. It will work as open forum and clearinghouse for all NGOs workers, teachers, researcher, journalist, women activist and civil society peoples. It also preserved and collects information on Violence against Women (VAW), Women Political Empowerment, Birth Registration (BR), Marriage Registration (MR), Early marriage (ER), domestics and other oppressions, injustice at locality and takes measures against it. There will be regular weekly, monthly sharing meeting, dissemination sessions and debates etc for creates positive attitudes of the civil society people towards women and girl children. We appeal to individuals, publishers and organizations to share their materials and resources on the above subject(s). We would welcome copies of reports and tool kits and acknowledge organizations /individuals who send them. We would also be glad if all of you, who read this, could email us lists of books/resources and information on how to acquire them, and we'll try and procure them, resources permitting. We would also like to have information on any rare books/pamphlet/ posters/flyer relating to gender, violation of women rights, women’s political empowerment, sexual harassment, adolescents and girl child rights, good governance, environment etc. In such cases, we would try and get them photocopied or copied otherwise and acknowledge the source. As our new initiatives and it is now at the initial stage we have solicited your all kinds of technical, financial and materials grants & support. Please kindly include us in your regular publication, materials distribution list and provide us support to establish as real GDRC at Chittagong.
